BT Hub 6 dropping out

Got a text from BT saying my broadband had a problem, looked into the Hub log and saw frequent dropping out with pppoe error timeout repeatedly.

BT engineer called and said all tested OK but possible bad connection in cab, problem reduced but was still dropping out,noticed wandering NMR values and reduced speeds.Second engineer came and swapped an optical connection from an older card to a newer card version and all was well for 4 hours before failing totally with ppoe error timeout being repeated continually.Got back to Bt ,arranged another app but no show, arranged another app, another no show.Arranged another app a full week after total loss of Broadband, engineer called,ran a sync test OK but couldn't get a session running.Went to cab and tried a few more ports with reprofiles each time taking around 2 hours.Hub then turned blue and all was well for 5 hours ......then total loss again, permanent orange light,ppoe error timeout and another app made.Is Hub 6 not compatible with this newer fibre card as since that change everything is far worse than it was.

it’s normal for a copper line which includes ADSL (full copper), FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) & G.Fast (same as FTTC but with a light booster), for the service to have synced drops, this isn’t normally a concern unless it’s dropped more then 5 times with a 7 day period, this is normal a cabinet issue or caused by high resistance within the copper cable, this line would require a whole new line to fix issue.

Sometimes internal wiring, master socket, ADSL cable, micro filter, noisy line, D-Slam etc also can effect your Broadband speeds.

It’s normally not the router itself, as long as the router is on with a blue light then it’s safe to say it’s working and this wouldn’t suggest the router is faulty.

A synced drop is a total connect drop to the router where the system cannot communicate with the router.

a connect drop this isn’t a synced drop is normal the device itself or how your WiFi channels are set up and not because of a fault.

also the router location is important, next to glass, metal, carpet, brick walls, etc will also effect and cause your WiFi to drop.

also traffic from other routers on same channels can cause WiFi problems.

In most cases this can be fixed by changing your set up if no issues are detected on the network itself.

Hi,

These aren't drops,this is completary off,no service,completely dropped out.Wiring checked and tested,jdsu sync to house ok but no authentication session. Hence why engineer was in cabinet changing ports.I have Hub 6, is there a profile issue or compatibility issue with Hub 6 and newer fibre cards in the cabinet which now has been off for a full week  and only back on yesterday for 4 hours before going dead again.

Hi, @R0bbb welcome to the community and thanks for posting, I'm sorry to see you're experiencing a fault with your broadband. Your Hub is compatible with the network so I don't think that's the reason for the issues encountered. I appreciate several unsuccessful attempts have been made to repair your service and it sounds like another visit will need to be arranged.
