BT Hub 6A - Dropped link, slow download, crackly phone line

Go to solution

Hi, have been experiencing poor service, that seems to start during heavy wind/rain. Dial tone on phone line has crackly noise. Broadband service drops out repeatedly and download speed significantly reduced. Looks like BT have increased the noise margin to 18db to stabilise the service, certainly not dropping the connection as much. The phone line is around 1 mile from cabinet, overhead through trees. The crackle on the phone line, stops roughly 24 hours after rain/wind. I am now left with the following config on the broadband service:

Firmware updated:

19-May-2022

Board version:

1.0

Gui version:

1.126.0

DSL uptime:

1 Days, 18 Hours 26 Minutes 58 Seconds

Data rate:

1.29 Mbps / 11.40 Mbps

Maximum data rate:

2287 / 23680

Noise margin:

10.3 dB / 18.7 dB

Line attenuation:

86.2 dB

Signal attenuation:

59.7 dB / 28.5 dB

VPI / VCI:

0/38

Modulation:

G_993_2_ANNEX_B

Latency type:

Fast Path

So, what to do?

I have done that, as I say the noise is intermittent. I guess the answer to my problem is to get bt to force openreach to repair and/or replace my line....

@NeilO I have replied as requested. Is it possible to request a new copper line into a new master socket at my property?

Yes, if you order and pay for a second line.

Thanks @djvoas, no I'm sorry that's not something we can request. Openreach decides what's required in order to repair the fault.

Thanks

Neil
