Hi everyone,
I’ve noticed that my BT Hub appears to be rebooting itself roughly every three days, and I’m trying to understand why.
For example, on 4 March at around 22:33, the router restarted and the system log shows the following entries:
22:33:56 – System start Button press (PowerButton)
22:33:56 – Booting firmware v0.46.02.42261-BT
22:33:56 – System up
Immediately afterwards, all devices on my network reconnect and request DHCP leases again, which causes brief interruptions to services on my network.
This is not a one-off event. I have observed similar reboots before 27 February, and then again on 27 February, 1 March, and 4 March, so it seems to be happening roughly every three days.
The router is connected to a stable power source and no one is pressing the power button, so the log message is a bit confusing. I’m wondering whether this could be caused by a firmware issue, an automatic maintenance reboot, a watchdog restart, or possibly a hardware fault.
The current firmware version is v0.46.02.42261-BT.
Has anyone seen similar behaviour with their BT Hub, or knows whether these routers perform periodic automatic restarts?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Harry
It may be having a problem trying to install an update. Try a factory reset of your BT hub by pressing the recessed button on the rear for about 30 seconds.
Hi,
Been having the same issues seems to be restarting every 3 days, just done a factory reset, to see if make a difference.
Hi Again,
Ours still doing it , restart at 2:10am in morning:
Hi Everyone,

Hi, I am still experiencing the issue after the reset. The firmware version also did not change after the factory reset.
Might be a failing power supply unit, but if it is exactly every 3 days that would seem to suggest something more sophisticated.
Phone customer services and ask for a replacement router.
Been in a BT Live chat, managed to get replacement router, which is now installed, awaiting to see how this one goes.
I don’t understand why a response was marked as a solution when it hasn’t resolved the issue raised for at least one person.
Me neither, I didn’t mark it.
