BT switch to EE prices - accurate?

Go to solution

My BT contract ends in a couple of weeks, with all of the package switches/name changes and general rises over the years we've crept up to about £56 per month for the Fibre Essential. We were considering moving to Sky to save over half this, but looking at the My Offers page in our BT profile they are suggesting we can switch to EE and pay £27 per month for their equivalent Fibre Essential package (From 31 March 2026 £29.99, From 31 March 2027 £32.99).

I assume this is accurate and will be honoured as it's technically a different provider (though obviously just BT under a different name). When I click the "See EE Deals" button on that page it takes us to the EE website and there it's showing something closer to £60 for Fibre Essential, even though it's meant to be a custom deal for us. I don't really understand why there's a discrepancy.

If I checkout the £26.99 deal, is that going to be what we get? Is there some catch to this? The EE Fibre Essential doesn't seem to come with any tech support, do Openreach still service the line as quickly for free as they do for BT callouts, etc? Basically I'm asking if there's some small print I'm missing, things that we'll no longer get, or fees that might catch us out. Thanks

try phoning retentions 08007831401 and see what you can negotiate making sure you know what BT and EE are offering new customers for your current package - make sure not just broadband only unless you use home phone and need broadband and phone package which is £3/5pm more expensive

I’d make sure you know what a couple of third-party suppliers are offering as well, so you can use that in negotiations.

There is that much ‘smoke and mirrors’ going on at the moment, I wouldn’t believe anything until you have it in writing.
