Broadband only, disconnection of phone line?

Hi,

I recently negotiated a better broadband deal and the representative I spoke to asked if I use the landline - I don't, there's no phone connected, etc. He confirmed I could have a broadband-only deal.

Following the call, I received an email informing me an engineer will visit me to disconnect my phone line on a specified date. This wasn't mentioned on the phone call.

Can anyone put my mind at ease that this physical disconnection of the phone line will not affect broadband? What is it the engineer needs to do inside my home?

Thank you

Re: Broadband only, disconnection of phone line?

It will be an automated email that gets sent out when a landline phone is cancelled. There is no need for an engineer visit to your property.

If you have FTTC broadband your line will still remain connected so that the broadband works it would just be your landline phone that won't work if you were to use one.

Re: Broadband only, disconnection of phone line?

if you are on FTTC - fibre to cabinet and copper to your home and still use the master socket then line will not be disconnected.  do you have FTTP - fibre to your home?  if so line could be disconnected and not affect broadband

Thanks, I don't think I do have FTTP? My BT hub is connected to a box with 'ADSL filter' on it, before then connecting into the socket

@RE_92

Its more likely the phone connection will be disconnected from the exchange, or from the exchange side of the cabinet wiring.
