DSL Link constantly down

I'm having the same issue many others seem to have had here in the past with my DSL link constantly going down. Have had three engineers out and still the problem resides. The first one tried to fix a problem 50m away outside and the second replaced by master socket due to some visible corrosion. Are there any mods on here that are able to help? The problem is intermittent and the disconnects happen from every 30 mins to once or twice a day.

Here are the occasions it's been down in the past 2 days:

Re: DSL Link constantly down

Interesting your connection speed is still about the attainable speed and noise margin about normal 6db despite all the resets in connection.

With amount of disconnections it suggests something near the hub causing interference resulting in drops in connection.  Have you tried connecting to the test socket with a filter (even if you currently have a filtered master socket) to eliminate your internal wiring a the cause of the problem.

What devices do you have connected to the hub?

Re: DSL Link constantly down

All the mods can do is book another engineer.  It just needs a competent and diligent engineer to track down the cause of the line problem.

Re: DSL Link constantly down

I think I may have found the cause. I saw another post on here which mentioned a dodgy extension cable with a non lit surge protection light. It just so happens mine is like that. And, it's plugged into a power socket in the wall which seems to be suffering from corrosion on the contacts. The wall that the power socket it in seems to suffer from a lot of damp.

I may try replacing the extension cable and the power socket in the wall to see if that fixes it

Re: DSL Link constantly down

Update: I've moved the hub to a different power socket and removed my powerline adaptors but the issue remains. I wonder if the overhead lines from my house to the telephone pole need looking at as I can't think what else it might be...

The only other thing to try is another BT Hub, in case mine is faulty. But the DSL link down event log errors suggest its more of a connection issue as opposed to a hardware fault with the hub

Re: DSL Link constantly down

have you now connected hub direct to power socket without any extension cable?  have you tried replacing the rj11 cable with connects hub to master socket?  have you tried a filter and using test socket and see if that makes any difference?

Re: DSL Link constantly down

Yes, the hub is now connected directly to power socket. The RH11 cable got replaced when they replaced the master socket. I haven't yet tried connecting to the test socket - will try that next. They replaced the master socket with one that has a dedicated broadband socket and one for the phone - does this still have a test socket? I also don't have anything connected to any other extensions in the house (not even sure I have any extension wiring).

Re: DSL Link constantly down

Yeah its a Mk.4 master socket and doesn't seem to have a test socket behind the backing plate

Re: DSL Link constantly down

if you remove the faceplate which just clips on then test socket is visible
