I use a Netgear Nighthawk and am considering replacing it because it has been dropping WiFi frequently on my iPhone and other devices. It's 8 years old, so it's time for an upgrade.
I refuse to pay Netgear prices. What is a good replacement for the old Netgear Nighthawk? It's an old house, and the Nighthawk was able to get through the old-style breeze block walls in Northern Ireland.
I've seen mixed reviews here and elsewhere about ASUS and TP-Link products. Any recommendations would help. I'm a gamer, but I won't fall for the claim that a router speeds up gaming. Also a software developer so well up on brands
Budget is around £250
Have you thought about mesh WiFi? It’ll be much better coverage than a WiFi router.
As a software developer you might be interested in building your own pfSense router using a SFF PC and adding a couple of mesh wireless access points (e.g. Unifi U6+).
