@Hevski77
49 is a youngster in my eyes too! I'm guessing your user name reflects the year of your birth? My younger brother is some years older than you, so that will give you an idea of how old I am (and I fit in to the category that @SWH refers to as well)! lol.
Anyway, I'm with you on the size of the phones as that was one of the reasons I changed mine to a Google Pixel 10a earlier this year as it's one of the smaller ones currently on the market. My previous one (a Motorola in fact) was just feeling a little too large in my pocket (albeit there was not that much in it, but enough to make the 10a feel more comfortable in my pocket anyway). A number of other factors came in to play as well, but they're irrelevant to this discussion as it's not something within your budget, unfortunately.
@Hevski77 yes, that looks like WiFi calling.
Once set up, phones will use whatever is available to make calls. Normal mobile connection if a good signal or any connected WiFi if not.
Just think of it as your WiFi signal replacing the mobile signal, it is transparent to the user.
@iniltous I'd like to have it, as I live alone, have anxiety, I have mental health disorders and I have heart failure, it wouldn't be great to have a heart attack or something and not be able to call for an ambulance if there was a power cut! Especially when I can't call via mobile (because of signal/phone issues).
I recently thought I was having a heart attack, had to call for an ambulance, because my mobile wasn't working and had to go downstairs to call when this was going on. Thankfully I wasn't, it was either Costochronditis (or however you spell it) or a Gallbladder Attack.. But it felt similar. (Stabbing pain in chest going up to neck, couldn't breathe without pain).
@licquorice I've never used it, but I don't think it would work on this old phone, now.
If your phone has the capability and your mobile provider supports WiFi calling, the age of your phone is irrelevant.
Enable it and see if it works.
