Doorstep visit

Ive just had a visit from a woman claiming to be from BT who told me that she was visiting to tell me that my copper wires were going to be switched off and removed and that I'd have to change over to fibre. She needed my agreement and that someone would phone soon to verify that I agreed. I questioned why this visit was necessary and she said that BT had taken over EE and it was a legal requirement for her to notify me. I because more suspicious that she didn't have any of my details despite me being a BT customer and why I needed to provide them again. She said that it was against the law for BT to provide me details to EE and that was why she had to come and take my details directly. I have a photo of her ID.

Anyone who comes knocking on your door uninvited or makes any form of unsolicited contact with you should be treated with ultimate suspicion, in fact you'd be well advised never to open the door to them.

BT do have third party reps that do door-to-door sales, they work for a company call Money Expert, they should sell with honestly and your story seems that wasn't the case.
