EE to BT

I'm currently in a 2 year broadband contract after switching to EE, to try for their 1.6gb service, but found out it was for 'NEW' customers only.

So I took the same service with them, that I had with BT, which was 900mb and the same price.

And I'm wondering, when this 'HOME' contract comes up for renewal, could I switch back to BT, or am I trapped with EE.

Or is it possible to switch back without incurring exit fees.

Re: EE to BT

@robh66  You may well have a fight on your hands trying to switch back to BT, especially as it was of your own volition. I'm guessing too that there would be fees involved even if it was possible. Also, you can't use OTS from EE to BT and vice versa AFAIK.

Have a read through the following thread taken directly from the EE forum. Doesn't give a huge amount of info, but the question was asked there:

Re: EE to BT

When you come to the end of your two year Fixed Term Contract there would be no exit fees regardless of which provider you were wanting to move to. The fees are only payable if you want to leave the contract before the Fixed Term Ends.

As has been pointed by @Kimberlin you can not use the OTS system to move from EE to BT or vice versa.

You would need to contact BT by phone and explain that you want to move from EE to BT and they would initiate the move for you.

This should be possible but if you have just moved into your new Fixed Term Contract with BT and assuming you do not want to pay exit fees that means you would be moving in about two years time and a lot of water will have gone under the bridge by then so things may have changed regarding moving between the two brands by then.

Re: EE to BT

If you're getting the same broadband speed and paying the same price for EE broadband as you paid for BT, why would you want to change back?

Re: EE to BT

Because it started off, with an EE ad. Offering 1.6gb for £69.99, which is 500mb more than I was getting from BT, and approx £40 cheaper.

But the ad didn't say it was for 'NEW' customers only, and not BT customers.

And what I've been reading as well as some experience, there CS isn't the world's best either.

Re: EE to BT

Why , when it became apparent that the EE move didn’t allow you to take 1.6Gb as you were not classed as a new customer, didn’t you cancel the migration before it took place and remain with BT on your existing deal….

If you have buyers regret , that’s unfortunate, but there will be little in difference in customer service regardless of what you seem to assume to be the case , and I’d guess the price with EE is unlikely to be more that you were paying BT , and much more likely to be a little less , otherwise much like when you found out you couldn’t have 1.6Gb , didn’t you cancel at that point ?, why voluntarily pay more ?

You may have other reasons to want to leave EE , but the ones you have provided don’t seem compelling , but if you ask EE to transfer you back to BT and they say No , then TBH , it would be like leaving EE for any other provider while within a minimum term, and early termination charges are inevitable.

Re: EE to BT

@robh66  To be fair, I can’t really see how EE and BT customer support/service can be any different, it’s essentially the same company operating out of the same call centre using the same staff (probably!).

There might be a perception that one arm is better than the other, but if you read through both the BT and EE forums side by side (and both forums share the same moderating team by the way), all things written, Customer Service is probably the same, it’s just a different name that’s all.
