BT test shows 149Mbs as expected in room with router. Elsewhere varies between 23 and 39Mbs. Router cannot be moved as defined by length of red ended cable to ONT. What speeds should be expected throughout house? Should I get extenders for BT TV box?
Thanks.

You can move the router up to 100mts away from the ONT. Just buy a longer CAT5 e cable from ebay or amazon.
There is nothing special about the Ethernet cable with red plugs , so if you need a longer Ethernet cable to relocate the router , get a longer cable .
Wifi is not guaranteed as there are too many variables, so there isn’t any way to predict the speed that should be available , but there are ways to improve WiFi performance using extra devices.
Thanks to both iniltous and pippincp.
I didn't realise it was a standard cat5e cable, it 'fealt' different. Will consider moving router to more appropriate position.
