FTTC Downstream Issues

Go to solution

Afternoon,

I've had Open Reach out who have changed my cable on the outside of my house  to the master socket and also changed the master socket itself (the cable was obsolete from the 60s). I had an issue where my downstream had dropped below the guarenteed speed of 41mb to 35mb.

I have seen an improvement to 48mb but I was expecting a bigger improvement as I was previously getting 55mb with plusnet on the old wire.

I was wondering if I have to patient to see if it resyncs and gains speed or is this the best I am going to get?

The uptime is only 5 hours.

Your noise margin is 6dB which is the default starting point for DLM. Give it a few days without rebooting the hub and DLM should reduce your noise margin to 3dB which will give a speed increase.

TBH, the only way you are going to tell the difference between 48M and 55M is a speed test result. In the real world you won't tell the difference.
