Hi this is my first time here and although have read a lot of problems and answers I still don't know why after 4 years of getting download speed above average (70-75Mbs) it is now below average (58-62Mbs) All attempts with BT to obtain an answer have been met with "you are getting the guaranteed minimum " so no investigation, just line tests. This has occurred since the Exchange
This has occurred since the Exchange became Ultrafast at the beginning of December 2021!! Can anybody help?
what do you mean by this 'has occurred since the exchange'. FTTP will not affect your |FTTC connection
please can you post the stats from your router (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser) and if HH5 then go to troubleshooting then helpdesk and if HH6/SH2 then advanced settings then technical log information .
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal - will not work if you have DV
enter your phone number and post results remember to delete number this won't work if you have DV https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem
Thanks for the quick response. The first post was incomplete and submitted in error and should be deleted which I assume is an administrator privilege. I am aware of the characteristic differences of fibre services and my attempt to inject irony into the issue obviously failed miserably so will stick to plain speech. It was just a bit coincidental that my problem occurred during the exchange upgrade and the full fibre 2 option specification fitted almost exactly what I would expect if it had been terminated at the cabinet Apart from mains power outages I have had no problems with either my landline or internet in the last 20 years. I know, very lucky indeed.
I did the quiet line test last month and again a week ago and it is fine. Since my post I have been informed that Openreach are investigating as the download speed has dropped below the minimum guarantee so will wait for their report before further exploration
Thanks again
