Fibre 500 - 229 Mbps Down / 70 Mbps Up

Hi all - I had FTTP Fibre 500 installed today. The speedtests are showing 229 Mbps Down / 70 Mbps Up..

I was expecting nearer to 500 Down, I believe the stay fast guarantee is 450.. Is there anything I should do before I contact BT? I checked the cables are CAT 6e, I've rebooted the ONT. Still the same.

Do I need to wait a day or 2 for it to stabilise like I did with ADSL?

Thanks.

@infinityuser

There is no stabilisation period.

Speeds must be measured using a fast computer directly connected to the home hub using an Ethernet cable. Wireless connections are not guaranteed.

Re: Fibre 500 - 229 Mbps Down / 70 Mbps Up

I did not plug in the SH2 at all, I plugged our Ubiquiti switch directly into the ONT.

I tried as you suggested with the SH2, and yes the speed test even over WIFI to my phone was 400+.

I will check if I need to configure something else in Ubiquiti so I do not have to go through the SH2.

Which Ubiquiti switch model is it?  Lower end models aren't going to have a fast enough CPU for PPPoE at 500Mbps.

Re: Fibre 500 - 229 Mbps Down / 70 Mbps Up

This was resolved by turning on HWNAT in the ubiquiti edgerouter xfp.

So I'm not using the  hub2, but also need to work out how to get my incoming calls.. maybe I will just divert to my mobile.

That is the only way you will get calls without a BT hub.
