My fibre broadband was just fitted and activated yesterday. The Openreach engineer came to do the installation on behalf of Sky. The socket was fitted in the kitchen because the cable came through an adjacent closet containing the electrical board that serves the house.
However, now the router is placed awkwardly in the kitchen due to all the other appliances and everything else in the kitchen. I am worried about the signal strength, the wires running across different appliances, the da ger of overheating, the router having to be placed behind several items or on top of a microwave to get surrounding space. More importantly, my other half is not happy about it at all.
Can I have the socket moved centrally to the living room area?

This is a community forum for BT residential customers - Openreach is its own company.
You would need to contact Sky but normally this is why someone over the age of 18 is in when this kind of work is done so it can be discussed with the engineer
