Fibre poles installed in my street - how long until I can get service?

I've recently had new poles installed on my street, which the crew told me were for full fibre. One of the guys said service could be available in three months, just based on previous experience.

So, my question is, how long am I really likely to wait for fibre service to be available to order? Interested in the good or the bad...

I'm just trying to temper my enthusiasm. 🙂

I'm currently on FTTC with BT, and work remotely via RDP. I'm wondering if I will see much benefit with FTTP - I'm guessing perhaps more impacted by latency than throughput, as my current connection is interleaved on the downstream side.

If it's relevant, this is a previous thread re sync speeds on my line:

Thanks for any help.

Days, weeks, months or even years, take your pick. Nobody here will be able to tell you, depends on many factors.

Are you sure the poles have been installed by Openreach as another FTTP provider could be doing it?

I'm on a Market 1 exchange, which I think (???) makes that unlikely?

On the other hand, I do wonder why they don't just use the existing poles? The sticked post seems to say that my copper will be removed, freeing up space on the old pole

What does the Birth Mark on the Pole say?

If it’s Openreach it’ll say, BT etched into it at the 3m Mark.

It’ll look something like this;

BT - Owning Company

9M - Pole Height and Type

22 - Year or Preservation

2I - Supplier Marking

More progress - BT (I know because there are signs) are digging up the pavements on the estate and laying ducting.

Neat.
