Full Fibre cabling

Go to solution

Good morning

I am having full fibre installed soon and have a conduit from where the current cable enters the house throigh to my router.

Can anybody tell me if the Openreach engineer attaches the connectors to each end of the fibre cable that runs from the external wall box to the internal wall box or are the cables already made up with connectors each end. If the cable is already made up there will be a problem pulling it through the conduit.

Thanks

The cable from the CSP ( external wall block ) to the ONT has a pre connected SC/APC plug at one end and comes in various lengths , obviously the installer selects the most appropriate pre made length to reduce the amount of waste , for example, a 30m cable  used for a 20m run, the excess cut off at the CSP end .

If you have a conduit in place , how do you expect the installer to use it ? , does it have a draw rope or are you expecting the installer to use the existing copper cable as a draw rope to pull the optical cable ( the cable pulled from the exterior wall so the ‘bare end’ is pulled through from the ONT location , so  the SC connector never enters the conduit , obviously if the installer uses the copper cable as a draw rope , but the installation fails , the existing copper service is also removed and can’t be reinstated, this method will ultimately be the installers choice , I dare say some will agree ( less work for them ) others may be reluctant to do this .

Many thanks, you have answered my question.  I installed a draw wire with the drop wire so it should be fine to pull the new fibe through from the CSP.
