Full Fibre upgrade offer

I  have FTTP 500 currently for £33.99 per month. The contract runs until November 2027.

I've had an email from BT offering me an upgrade to 900 for £1 extra per month with no changes to contract. Allegedly as a thankyou.

Is this a general offer being made to all customers, and would I realistically see much difference between 500 and 900?

At the risk of repeating myself, I suspect it is a ploy to get everyone on the higher speeds, close down the lower speeds, because “no one is using them”, and then start charging what it really costs knowing they can’t downgrade.  After all, someone has to pay for all this upgrade work, and the investors are going to want to see a profit soon.  Remember Halo?

Not sure I go along with the cynicism and those that allege it’s all a  Machiavellian plot , but it’s a simple enough proposition, pay £1 more , increase your speed significantly, TBH I’ve seen quite a few comments about this , it’s clearly a very large marketing rollout ( I even received an offer that is currently impossible to provide, although a very short time later a second email apologised for the incorrectly offered upgrade )  , but you seem to confirm there is no contractual tie in with this offer so in that respect it’s fairly risk free ….would you notice the difference between 500Mb and 900Mb , probably not , depends what you do ‘on line’ , but as it’s a relatively small increase in price is it worth giving it a try , maybe it is .
