Hi guys!
Before I can order my upgrade to full fibre I need to know how the engineer will fit the cable. At the moment my ADSL line comes in from the, second floor. That where my office and IT equiment is. But we also got a pole in the backs where all the neigbours have their full fibre connections coming from. Having said that, other neighbours more up on the street have theres from the front.
Is it possible to get this checked first with an Openreach engineer before I order? I don't wnat to drill holes through the house ....
Thanks, Tom
Solved! Go to Solution.
How does your existing phone cable enter your home as fibre normally follows the same route. If close neighbours are fed from pole then I would expect yours to be likewise
You would need to place an order and when openreach engineer came to fit then you can see whether he can fit it as you would like but if not acceptable then you can cancel the order
To answer your question bluntly…..
You Don’t.
Openreach don’t offer Internal Surveys for FTTP.
You can only order it and when the Installer shows up they’ll discuss with you how it’ll be installed and that’s it.
If you decide on the day you don’t want them to go ahead then you can cancel the order.
Hi @thomas_e I would recommend having a look at your properties status on broadbandchecker.btwholesale whether it will be simple or complex.
You can also change your mind when the engineer gets there and you discuss what's going to happen.
The Simple or Complex Part only refers to the External Build part, i.e. if it requires a Dig, Hoist, etc.
It has no bearing on the installation at the house end, be it on the outside or inside.
Oh ok - I stand corrected then, thanks.
You can still cancel though pretty sure.
If I cancel the order on the day when the engineer is here, my "old" internet connection and contract will still be active? So I won't lock myslef out ....
Cheers
I’d say there’s a 50/50 chance it’ll go off regardless…
That's what I am afraid of ... can't risk having no internet.
So will have to stick with my copper line. At least now it runs full speed, must be the only one left on copper in my area 😄
