Moved to full fibre, but now I keep getting CAPTCHA challenges

Hi there

I recently moved to full fibre, and since the move i keep getting CAPTCHA challenges, even when doing something as simple as googling things (I had never seen them on searching on a simple search before). Sometimes I have to do them several times just to get a simple search done, it's frustrating and very annoying and happens frequently

I'm using a HomeHub 2, and apart from making it work on LAN4 for Full Fibre have not changed the settings at all. It happens no matter the device I'm using. I even purchased a different router to see if this helped but it does not.

I've read a little about the most obvious causes and tried the solutions (ones that I can) but to no avail. Is there something about a full fibre instillation that could cause this?

Any help appreciated

Re: Moved to full fibre, but now I keep getting CAPTCHA challenges

I think that this happened at the same time as you moved to full fibre, is at least partially coincidental.  There has definitely been an uptick in the number of sites using CAPTCHA over the last few months, but they do like to hit faster connections too!  Just the same as the move to passkeys from passwords and having to use fingerprint verification everytime when using pay-by phone (new mobile).  Sometimes, change just happens!

I only learn by making mistakes and owning up to them - boy do I learn a lot!

Re: Moved to full fibre, but now I keep getting CAPTCHA challenges

It is the web sites that are challenging you not BT.

You may find that it is happening because of the change to FTTP has given you a different IP address range that the web sites do not recognise it as a genuine IP address so it challenges you to ensure it is a genuine user and nota spam bot.
