Network Expansion?

We've had a letter from Avonline Networks advising that they, in conjunction with Virgin Media O2, will be excavating in the public highway past our property as part of Virgin Media O2's Ultrafast Fibre Broadband network expansion plans.

As a BT customer am I going to benefit from this?

Re: Network Expansion?

So will it only be Virgin O2 customers?

Re: Network Expansion?

Just an update - today we had a letter from Virgin telling us that our road is good to go with Ultrafast broadband for £25/month (increasing at RPI + 3.9% per month).

Re: Network Expansion?

Thanks, was getting worried they weren’t going to compete it before Christmas.

Re: Network Expansion?

I dare say the speed on offer for that price won’t require FTTP to deliver it , so if you had regular ’ Virgin Cable ‘ broadband available at your address then that speed was already available anyway , if you didn’t previously have Virgin cable access , then obviously you are getting something other Virgin areas have had for a long time .
FWIW , Ultrafast is taken to be anything over 300Mb to 1Gb , Hyperfast is over 1Gb , if the offer for £25 is for less than 300Mb it may be an Ultrafast network but they are offering a Superfast speed for £25 , Superfast is 24Mb ( or 30Mb by some measure ) to 300Mb .
