New FTTP install CBT to PON question

Hello, I am upgrading to FTTP.

I have an install date in a few weeks time.

I asked for a survey to be done but the earliest it could be done is the same date.

My existing HUB is in a great location at the back of the house but would need a long run.

What is the maximum distance allowed from the CBT to the PON ?

I have existing outside private ducting for my BT Phone/BB, will Openreach use that or just hang it on the outside wall?

What is the smallest radius that the fibre cable can take?

What is the diameter of the cable or connector?

Thx

Scouser.

Re: New FTTP install CBT to PON question

CBT - PON distance is immaterial to you. A CBT won't be placed at max distance as no-one could be connected to it and get a high enough signal. It is the max distance of CBT to premises that applies which is 150 mts.

Existing route of phone cable will be used.

Bend radius is 2.5mm (think £2 coin).

IIRC diameter is 6mm (about same as Sky or VM coaxial).

Re: New FTTP install CBT to PON question

Thank you Pippincp.

I edited my issue to include the width of the connector?  I have  to drill a hole in a brick wall , need to make sure the connector passes through.

thx

Re: New FTTP install CBT to PON question

I wouldn't drill a hole anywhere until the site of the ONT has been agreed with the installer. They will then drill it for you.

Re: New FTTP install CBT to PON question

I am 370 meters from the CBT, they had to do another splice at 350 as that was the longest run they had but that is all underground.

The hole through the wall is 6mm as they only have to put the non-terminated end of cable through from the inside and then splice it on the outside.
