New Home has FTTP installed but no availability (possible ORDI)

Moving to a new property (newly built) next week and looking to get FTTP. Developer has confirmed that fibre is available and was provided by OpenReach. When checking availability online it’s only showing as available for copper and when I check on the Wholesale checker it does not show online. The name of the plot (that was used during construction) shows as FTTP available so believe it is an Ordi issue. Fibre is available from the pole outside the house. Anyone able to help me with this or know what I can do to get up and running ASAP.

Re: New Home has FTTP installed but no availability (possible ORDI)

Newbuilds and fed from a pole is not the normal method of provision, so I’m guessing this is a very small development or a vacant plot within an established area (although that also begs a question why bother with plot numbers and the developer stating that Openreach ‘fibre’ is available or is an underground service development and the existing of a near by pole with FTTP is just coincidental and was never intended for the new build property or properties .

How many units are on the development and is the developer a mainstream developer or a ‘one man band’ type developer ?

As far as help , there is no indication you are looking to use BT as your provider, Openreach and BT are not interchangeable terms , so thus would only ever concern BT if your order was with BT.

ORDI is possibly required but this is for your provider to approach Openreach about , but is more common when there is a difference in the OR records and Royal Mail records , if this is a new build so an address that didn’t previously exist, it’s not likely to be an ORDI issue…it’s the developer you need to be discussing this with first , have they formally registered the address with all the appropriate authorities  ?

Re: New Home has FTTP installed but no availability (possible ORDI)

Hi,

Thanks for your response. Yes it’s 2x new build houses from a private developer.

I am trying to liaise with BT on this, who I’d like to be my provider, but they keep implying it’s not set up. But they can only see fibre line tied to the name of the development during construction which has now been split into 2 addresses.

Well aware of fact openreach and BT are separate, but given openreach handle the property connection, need my address resolved with then as it’s not even showing the plot number on the register.

@iniltous  has posted I think this is something you have to take up with developer - has he registered properties with royal mail and openreach and why does he say the FTTP is available

Will continue to take up with developer but he insisted I take up with openreach, which I know is wrong. Royalmail was only done a few days ago.

If the Royal Mail entry is very recent , and Openreach’s address file (PAF , postal address file , I think it’s called ) is only updated periodically, possibly each week , you may simply need to wait a little longer and the address will appear

That would make sense. Only starting to appear on a few sites with post code entry so will give it a while.
