Re: New to BT (from Virgin)

We'll agree to disagree.

I know people who have done it with TPlink systems and ASUS but as I said it isn't advisable and BT wouldn't give after-support.

but you have your opinion and that's fine 🙂

Re: New to BT (from Virgin)

Thanks for all the replies guys.

i won’t be using VOIP services. I just meant basic configuration.

So from what I’ve gathered I can buy a semi decent router and just login through ppoe.. my question is do I need BT auth for assistance for this is is it just plug and play

Re: New to BT (from Virgin)

When you say routing I’m assuming you mean nothing past the first hop? Ie just what I can change on my end not routing past this point.

Re: New to BT (from Virgin)

@Sickofvirgin

changing router is just plug and play  no need to inform BT

Just ignore @TECHHERO1984  I've no idea what he means by that, I doubt he does either.

BT FTTP With Digital Voice - Alternative to Smart Hub 2 :: Fibre Broadband :: think broadband

just because Liquorice is unfamiliar with something doesn't mean it can't be done, I am quite shocked that he is quite dismissive on here of new information and comes across quite rude.

I would ask that the moderators have a look at some of his messages moving forward

Re: New to BT (from Virgin)

I'm perfectly aware of that thread and have, in fact, referenced it on the forum in the past.

You clearly haven't read that thread fully. If you had, you would have seen that the Smart Hub2 was still required to provide Digital Voice albeit not as the first connected device.

The methodology employed to do so is far beyond the scope of the vast majority of customers.

Re: New to BT (from Virgin)

This is what I said in my original post, that it "isn't recommended", its you who's giving out false information that it's not possible when others have done it.

and you are quite a rude and dismissive in your posts they are borderline troll like , this forum is here to offer different opinions and ideas and respect should be shown at all times.

telling people to ignore people and sending insulting text in posts is not a great thing and I will ask that the moderators take a closer look at this

Re: New to BT (from Virgin)

I don’t know why your arguing over something that wasn’t part of the post, not even sure why the voice was brought into the conversation.

also I think liquorice was referring to your comments regarding routing, not the voice.
