Ongoing Broadband Fault

We have fibre to cabinet but the cabinet is quite a distance away and our mobile signal is not great.

8Mb/s would suggest a couple of Km away.  The graph shows what I mean.  (Images go into quarantine until a moderator releases them, so you won't be able to see it for a while).

Thank you, it is roughly half a mile away. I think our connection became worse after full fibre was brought in for the new developments in the village. Is it likely that their full fibre connection is connected to the same cabinet.

No, full fibre doesn't use the cabinet at all.  It's a completely separate system.  (In fact, it may even come from a completely different exchange, as the fibre optic signal can travel a lot further than copper.  Long term plan is to close about 4,600 of the current 5,600 exchanges by 2040, as full fibre will only need 1000).

8Mb/s is about a third of what you should be getting then.   Clearly there is some sort of problem, even if it is just the age of it.

It has been progressively getting worse for 2 years and much worse since March this year.

If you used the link I posted that would show what is available to you and also what speeds on a erage you should expect and can be compared to the hub stats if you posted them.   Up to you as  forum members have no information which we can help you with
