I am not that 'electrically inclined' but what I know is that is that obvious where the box is as there are arrows marked on the tiles at the footpath that turn and come with an arrow to where could be fed into our property. It might not be 6m but definitely less than 8 if you account the bends. I wish I could take a pic but with 333kb limit no way.... I find 3k-3800 I don't remember exactly, extremely high pricing. What annoys most is the fact that is being advertised available now from both companies and then say overbudget. The previous house owners have tried in the past and that's why the arrows but couldn't afford to wait anymore and went back to ADSL.
I will have a look tomorrow evening after work to see if it looks something like this bt joint box you are referring to and I will come back.
It's easy to upload an image. If it is too big use a free web optimiser such as this free online one.
You mention an EE dongle , is this separate from your BT FTTP order and it’s just a coincidence that your mobile dongle happens to be with EE , ( BT and EE are ‘sister’ companies ) , or have you actually used EE for your FTTP order , if BT are not your provider obviously posting on this BT forum won’t help, if that were the case EE would be the appropriate forum
They gave me an EE dongle so I don't be without Internet until they install the fiber at home. My contract is with BT that's why I post here.
I found a way to resize
I did some digging and there is a site called telecom tarrifs and it says distance 1,700m...I will have extra info when I go back home and take pic of that junction box on the footpath. Hopefully there is some light.
The DSL checker images only confirm what you had already stated , KCI2 ( two stage install ) and partial direct in ground , so essentially this is a dispute , OR state the installation for your address is outside the normal allowed budget , and you are required to contribute towards these costs or the order will be cancelled, and you dispute this ,
OR know where their network is in relation to your property so you are presumably saying they have made a mistake and their network is much closer than they think , and therefore any costs incurred will not exceed budget .
TBH , your last image is irrelevant ….
As stated , the nearest jointbox isn’t necessarily anything to do with the FTTP network, you need to know ( and that’s not going to be easy to find out ) where their network CBT for your address is located, if any network construction is required, duct , new jointboxes , etc , that can be very expensive depending on what’s needed , £4K is easily spent , and even with the allowed budget subtracted , that may require you to contribute.
However , these rules apply to USO ( universal service obligation ) if you have access to any network service , including mobile , that can provide 10Mb or more download , then it’s not a USO issue and if the costs were ( for example ) ‘only’ £600 and OR say they will pay £200 towards the £600 then it’s up to you to accept or decline…
FYI , this is the model that most Alt Nets use , and it has to be said , Openreach isn’t a charity, so adopting the same charging model as Alt Nets isn’t underhand or immoral, if they spend thousands ££ connecting you , in two years you could have access to an Alt Nets, and all OR would have got for their thousands in connecting you , is two years of wholesale rental ( £20 a month , if you pay an ISP £40 , OR only get £20 ) ...so OR get back £480 after spending potentially 7 -8 times that , that’s simply a commercial decision taken by a company required to make a profit, as said they are not a charity
Apologies for the delay.
I was looking to found where the OR cabinet was and I found it and is 500metres away.
I do understand that any company wants to make profit but when you state that a service is available it should be available not upon conditions.
If you subscribe to netflix is not going to say to you yes it is available but only if you buy 60inch tv so go and buy one if you want to use our services.
With regards to the junction box I always thought that was going to be a cable going into that and then distribution to each property from there, but probably I am wrong.
Anyway now we are going down the route of FTTC since they decided to cancel our FTTP.
I dont know how things will unfold, but I will keep trying to get FTTP.
Thanks for your replies
