Re: Openreach keep cancelling order

Is your MIL likely to order FTTP ? , if so  you could order for that other neighbouring property and if that order progresses successfully, then presumably it’s specific to one address and not the other ….if you enter the MIL address into the DSL checker does it return an identical result ?

Re: Openreach keep cancelling order

Weirdly, it does not.  It states that there are no plans for it in that area. Both are different house names on same road.

Re: Openreach keep cancelling order

Is there another house with the same name as yours in a different location ? , it could be that other address (if there is one ) has availability but you don’t but the survey notes have been transposed ….you could easily check if FTTP is available to you (and your MIL ) , does the pole between your address and the MIL property or the pole that feeds that pole (on the main road ) have visible evidence of FTTP , basically a CBT (connectorised block terminal ) at the top of the pole , you could search for images of Openreach CBT’s  if unsure what one looks like …if no CBT , your survey note is wrong , and that would explain why your orders are being cancelled .

Re: Openreach keep cancelling order

The pole at the roadside has two of those cbt fitted.  I presume one for each property.

The address checker shows its available for my property but not for my MIL.

No, a CBT feeds multiple properties. Are you sure they are CBTs?

Re: Openreach keep cancelling order

CBT’s are either 4, 8 or 12 port , for a pole to have 2 separate CBT’s would indicate a demand of at least 13 addresses …( a 4 port CBT can have upto 3 addresses assigned, an 8 port CBT  ,has 4 to  7 addresses assigned, there is always at least 1 spare port on these size CBT , a 12 port can have 8 to 12 addresses assigned ( no spare port needed ) so if there are 2 CBT ‘s the minimum that could be is a 12 port and a 4 port CBT  , hence the OR considers the minimum demand between 13 and 15 separate addresses , if it were 2 x 12 port CBT’s the demand could be 24 addresses , is that likely for your location ? It seems unlikely given your previous description of your area , so  if there are not that many addresses , then whatever you are looking at isn’t likely to be CBT’s but some other equipment type …maybe consider taking a picture and posting it here so it can be established what the equipment is .

There is obviously something wrong with your neighbours survey return  ( who is also your MIL ) if it shows no FTTP availability yet is served from the same infrastructure as you ,which supposedly does have FTTP equipment if your observation is correct , and weirdly your address shows availability but has its orders cancelled fir some unknown reason , it’s difficult to suggest what type of error can lead to this being the  case .

As your MIL shows no availability yet, you could fill in this formwize for her address

https://www.openreach.com/forms/fibre-broadband-availability---customer-form

Just to see what  Openreach comes back with , there is a section that is ‘my neighbour can get FTTP but I can’t ‘ .

I suggest using her address as I suspect if you fill it in for your address , because you can order ( even if that order ultimately gets cancelled) OR may just say , ‘Yes , you can order’ without investigating ….your MIL address may be a better one to get OR to review their records
