Hi all,
We had a power cut during the storms so I dug out my UPS to power up the BT hub. It's not an issue. But we gained an additional 20ish mb on the line speed to 75mb. We used to get this speed when we first moved into the flat, but then dropped as time went on, with many engineer visits til open reach changed the official speed listed as 52mb on our line.. How do we keep this correct speed going forward? I've left the ups connected just so we don't get a reboot causing us to loose this speed boost. But surely if we can get this currently for nearly 2 days we should be always able to get it? Max line data rate still shows 55mb in hub.
Any help to keep this speed would be greatly received. Keeps the kiddies happy when streaming lol

Your hub was probably one of the first to connect when the power was restored therefore little or no crosstalk to interfere. Your noise margin at that point would have been 6dB and your speed 75M to match. Subsequently, as others came on line your noise margin has been reduced drastically due to the increased crosstalk but DLM is yet to take action.
With such a low noise margin, you will at some point either lose connection, at which point DLM will reduce your speed to increase your noise margin or DLM will pre-emptively take action to reduce your speed
Either way, I'm afraid that speed won't last.
Thanks for the reply and explanation. Ah such a shame as we are enjoying the extra bandwith with downloads. We will enjoy it whilst it lasts!
On a slightly different topic, that firmware is way out of date. v37? The current version is v46.
Ah yeah, I used my own router for the most parts with a separate modem. Being on a ups I used the home hub for less power usage. Haven't used it for a long while so hasn't been updated. Probably be the update that causes the reboot.
