Re: Frequent random disconnections, speed flip flopping excessively

I am on full fibre broadband but I am having a similar issue of short random disconnections and this morning has been particularly bad the base set of my cordless phones is connected directly into the back of the router (a) could that be a source of my problem and (b) if it is would disconnecting the base of the phone from the router solve the problem and also identify it as the cause of the problem?

@pj4

I moved your post to start your own thread as the previous poster problems was not same as youre.  this way you will get replies to your problem

unplug the phones from the hub and see if that helps

are the lights on the ONT green?  does the hub light change from blue when you have problems?

Re: Frequent random disconnections, speed flip flopping excessively

I have disconnected the phone from the router and by later tomorrow should have a good idea if the phone is connected to the issue or not.

I work from home in an upstairs room with one of 3 discs. When the problem happens the blue light on the disc flashes for what seems like a couple of minutes and then it reconnects and the internet returns. It usually happens 2 or 3 times a day at random times but this morning it has happened more than half a dozen times and is particularly problematic if I am on an important Teams call.

Re: Frequent random disconnections, speed flip flopping excessively

so it is not that your hub is dropping internet connection but one of your disc is having problems maintaining connection with the hub - a wifi problem

have you tried changing position of the disc?  do you have halo 3+ as you could get a visit from BT to help make sure optimum settings of your setup

Re: Frequent random disconnections, speed flip flopping excessively

I am fairly certain it is the router as my adult daughter is living at home and doing an open university degree and often works downstairs getting her signal direct from the router and if she is working downstairs when it happens she will also complain the internet has disconnected. It’s just I don’t normally see the router when I am upstairs and I usually don’t come down as it corrects itself within a couple of minutes but it is frustrating and I am on 900 mbs  FTTP with halo and an EE mobile hub.

Re: Frequent random disconnections, speed flip flopping excessively

if the hub light is not changing colour from blue then it is not the internet connection but your wireless connection from the hub.  have you tried changing the wifi channels for the 2.4/5ghz networks from auto to a fixed channel?  use a wifi analyser on your phone and it will should your network but also the networks near you and channels in use.  then go to hub and change the channel to a free or less congested channel

Re: Frequent random disconnections, speed flip flopping excessively

Thanks, I have now reconnected the phone and have now switched of the discs and am going to see if that stops the issue. If it does then I will try an analyse whether to fix the channel and reposition the discs. Are you able to suggest any reliable analysers?

Re: Frequent random disconnections, speed flip flopping excessively

Just a quick update to confirm the random disconnection issue was definitely the wi-fi extender discs. I hope to try and analyse the issue in more detail at the weekend.

I am still puzzled because if the discs are too close or too far from the router they would usually show as orange but they are normally connected showing the blue light and definitely enhance the upload and download speeds I get working upstairs and even when they dropped out they usually flash blue for a a minute or two before reconnecting as blue again?
