Restarting Hub?

Had some strange things happening on the TV with Disney+, Netflix, ie programmes not loading, trailers showing in Arabic or something. Decided to run the BT Speed test from the App just to see if it threw up anything, and got a message like - Sorry we were not able to test your speed - Restarting your hub manually could solve the problem ... visit bt.com/help for help.

However the help service does not explain how restart the hub that I could see anyway. Now I've done it many times but on this occasion I thought I'd just check whether there is in fact a correct procedure.

So what is the *Right* way. Restart via the App or full power cycle? Should that be the switch on the hub or at the socket. What about the socket on the wall with the green lights on  should that be done too? What order if it matters?

Any advice on this anywhere?

Thanks for any clarification.

Re: Restarting Hub?

For a "soft" restart just press the power button on the rear and then it has powered off just press it again for it to restart. It will not change any setting you may have made.

If you want to do a "factory" reset you press and hold the small recess pin on the rear for about 30 seconds. This will wipe any settings you may have changed and restore the hub back to how it left the factory.

You can use the app if you wish either way is correct.

Re: Restarting Hub?

A simple reset by switching power off using the button on back of hub and then back  on again. No need to turn power off at the box with the green lights (ONT)
