Re: YouTube Buffering and Slow Loading on BT Full Fibre 900 – Possible Routing/Peering Issue

If I’m looking in the right place it’s https://rr4—sn-cu—cimy

This is on my pc , tbh this is playing out fine with a healthy buffer and network speed.

The problem child is the Amazon Fire Stick which is slow to play, buffering and poor connection speed.

Ive speed tested the fire stick which is reporting 320Mbps via the diagnostics test

iplayer, TNT Sports are all playing out HD perfectly.

Re: YouTube Buffering and Slow Loading on BT Full Fibre 900 – Possible Routing/Peering Issue

For reference I’m in Lincolnshire

ill try my hard wired Apple TV in a mo

edit: Not instantaneous playback, however, the network speed has improved to 17000Kbps, up from 5000Kbps earlier.
A 2160p stream has a 30s buffer. I guess the load has lessened due to the time of day.

Re: YouTube Buffering and Slow Loading on BT Full Fibre 900 – Possible Routing/Peering Issue

I doubt it is even regional to be honest given that is a /32 so simply accept 480p until someone gives it a kicking.

Or YouTube in the morning.

Re: YouTube Buffering and Slow Loading on BT Full Fibre 900 – Possible Routing/Peering Issue

@CarlH

or use a VPN to brute force onto a different node or block the affected node with firewall rules to let it failover to a healthier one

It sounds like the node that we’re all probably hitting is having an issue coping with peak traffic, and rather than  dealing with that gracefully and distributing to other nodes, it’s severely downscaling the connection speed, which results in buffering and auto lowered resolution

looks like all the right information has been passed over now so hopefully should see a resolution eventually

ultimately though if nobody raised it, it would continue to be an issue until somebody eventually noticed, and this has been ongoing since at least the last 10 days for some people

Yep.

There is a lot of **bleep** on throttling or DNS or router it is simply load in an evening and fixable if you get the right person.

Re: YouTube Buffering and Slow Loading on BT Full Fibre 900 – Possible Routing/Peering Issue

So as of right now it looks like by default I am no longer connecting to rr5---sn-cu-cime7, I'm currently on rr4---sn-cu-c9i6 now and it's working as expected with a much better speed in stats for nerds

Possible they've removed / changed the node, or it's possible I've not hit the broken one yet. Either way this time yesterday it was much worse than it is currently
