you need to find some way to test speed using an ethernet connection as wireless is subject to so much interference that it cannot be relied on
I understand what you say but the speed is at your router and the only acceptable test is using an ethernet connection direct from ONT to device
TBH it’s not just a case of being more accurate using a wired connection, it’s the only credible measure , if you talk to support about ‘speeds’ and when questioned admit its wireless speed tests , they will not be interested, indicating the authorised BT speed test results , testing upto the ONT, the only guaranteed speeds.
It is odd why wireless upload is OK with your alternative router on your devices, but not OK with the SH2 on your devices, doesn’t in itself prove anything and doesn’t exempt your devices either .
If you don’t have a PC with wired Ethernet perhaps you have a smart tv with a speed test app to give another indicative performance test .
The upload restriction on the SH2 was implemented when it became a problem on FTTC, where the SH2 was uploading more data than the equipment in the cabinet could process, so it caused the connection to drop. This was quite a while ago now, and is still the default, as a lot of people are still using FTTC,
A change was made to the default profile which enabled tighter flow control so that the FTTC equipment could cope.
With FTTP, this restriction is not needed, so a parameter change is send to the SH2, to lift that restriction. This should normally happen within a few days, provided the SH2 is recognised on the management system. If this does not happen, then it would need to be done manually, with the help of a moderator.
What is most likely happening at the moment, is that an initial fast upload is seen, until the flow control throttles it back to the 20Mbs restriction.
This is why a third party router is not affected.
I have asked one to assist. Please leave the SH2 connected all the time, and do not factory reset it.
Hi @Jbaffoe and welcome back.
It's been a while but great to see you again. I can help you with the upload problem. I've dropped you a message so send over the details and I'll look into it. We very busy at present so it's taking a little longer than usual to reply but once you submit the details we'll get to you in turn.
Cheers
David
