What just happened at BT Broadband?

Go to solution

What just happened?

BT's DNS suddenly stopped working for a couple of minutes.

Web pages were unavailable and emails that contained HTML received on Outlook Desktop couldn't be shown.

The problem cured itself as I was trying to change the address of my DNS server on my laptop.

Weird!

BTW Microsoft "Get Help" works again - it didn't before the glitch. (Oh! It's now stopped working again!)

Hi there @CanardNoir

Thanks for coming to the community.

If this is not working for you today, please get in touch with our broadband tech guides and they can get this fully looked into for you.

Thanks.

Re: What just happened at BT Broadband?

The unfailing device from BT is to clear my cache, use a different browser and re-start the hub. I'm surprised they don't have "dance a hornpipe" in the script. It would be of as much use.

The problem occurred in BT's infrastructure -NOT mine. Nothing I can do - including demonstrating naval terpsichorean skills - would have the slightest effect.

BT are quite unable to admit they might have a problem and so are quite unable to address it.

The broadband dropped again yesterday evening for a minute or so and then came back all by itself. Checking the hub tech log shows the hub rebooted itself uncommanded by me. Looked like something coming down the line at it.

Re: What just happened at BT Broadband?

Just discovered that BT are acknowledging that there is a problem with my broadband on their service status page.

It was reported at 22:11 yesterday and they  expect it to be fixed by 23:59 tonight.

The  Halo3 Hybrid thing has kicked in which is keeping me connected (though its showing a poor signal).

My bandwidth has fallen to half what it should be but at least I have a connection.

This is a step in the right direction for BT's customer service and an improvement to their previous practice of complete silence when there has been a problem.
