fibre in flat
Hi, hoping for advice.
i stay in a flat that has copper broadband with no notice to when full fibre is available "in my area"
In my street 3/4 closes have full fibre and get all the benefits. i am first floor, both ground floor neighbours have either full or partial fibre, when i ask bt im told im wrong and that isnt the case.
My understanding is you need an upgraded exchange in the flat for fibre.
Anyone in a similar circumstance or know how to proceed?
Thanks

Re: fibre in flat
Your neighbours who already have full fibre, which Internet Service Providers are they with?
I'm just wondering if there is an alternative network provider, eg CityFibre, available in your area and are servicing your neighbours?
BT use only Openreach as their network provider, whereas companies such as Vodaphone and Zen use either Openreach, CityFibre, (and probably others).

Re: fibre in flat
Downstairs ones bt and other is sky
other closes unsure but BT and sky let me select the fibre option for around 3/4 closed but if I put my address in it says copper only and fibre isn’t in my area yet with no plans to roll it out

Re: fibre in flat
It may well be the neighbours have FTTC ( partial fibre ) which would usually be available to you as well , but if the ‘cabinet’ is ‘waiting list’ there are no spare ports available so you can’t order FTTC until a port becomes spare
The DSL wholesale checker ( link already provided ) will show if this is the case , the column under SoGEA will show waiting list or available, if waiting list , there are no spare ports, enter your address and post the results

Re: fibre in flat
If there is already Full Fibre on the street then the 9 flats would’ve been included within the PON’s Capacity.
As it’s 9 THP it’ll be classed as a, Reactive Build so you just need to place an Order for FTTP, which will trigger the build.
Obviously the Installation Process takes a lot longer as it needs to be done in 3 Phases
1. Network Good to Go.
2. Internal Build.
3. Customer Installation.

Re: fibre in flat
Thanks for the reply
it won’t let me start an order as says I have only access to copper not fibre
both flats below me have partial fibre but other closes on my street have full
so will have to phone I think ha
