Advice needed

Go to solution

I have been a BT landline and broadband customer for more years than I can remember and i would like to move my mobile phone to BT and keep my existing number. Apart from the fact I haven't a clue how to do it I do possibly have a problem.

I am currently with Virgin for my mobile. Virgin are paired up with O2 and accounts are being moved to O2 shortly.  i tried doing the transfer and it has been a disaster. I won't bore you with the fine details but basically my new account is unworkable mainly due to my second christian name being quoted as my surname and my credit check was therefore refused!. The account says there are no products or services in it so I assume it is unworkable. Contact with O2 so far hasn't helped one bit!! They are so slow to respond!! Also they have a poor reputation on Twitter which doesn't help.

I have a PAC code from Virgin but I wasn't asked for it by O2 so would it be OK to use it on BT?

Like I say I haven't really a clue how to swap to BT as I am not technically minded, but one thing does concern me a bit.

Dare I risk swapping to BT just in case O2  sort my problem account out? That could be a major problem!

I am so frustrated, so any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Gerald

Do you have a phone contract with Virgin and has that expired?  Or are you sim only?

You should be able to go to MYBT and see mobile offers or you could phone options team 0800800130 and see if they can help you

Re: Advice needed

I have a full contract with Virgin, NOT Sim only. Like I said earlier Virgin accounts are being moved to O2. I have been told mine will happen on 9th July.

There are unanswered things in my original post, especially about the PAC code so I hope I get come more responses.

Regards.

Gerald.

Re: Advice needed

if you are still in a phone contract with virgin being moved to O2 then moving to BT/EE will terminate your existing contract and may have cancellation penalties

when you set up your contract with BT/EE then you just use PAC to move your number to new sim.  it is a straightforward process

Re: Advice needed

Hi again,

I have now finally heard from O2 and they have not upheld my complaint!!! More or less blaming me for what happened.

Not happy but nowt I can do about it.

They say I could apply again and start a new process but don't think I'll bother.

I'll use my Virgin PAC code and move my mobile account to BT.

Fingers crossed eh

Regards

Gerald

Re: Advice needed

if you are still in a mobile phone contract with virgin (not sim only) then you may find that moving phone number to BT/EE will end your virgin contract which may result in early termination penalties

Re: Advice needed

Hi there, sorry somehow missed your reply.

My Virgin contract is month by month and Sim only so doubt if there would be exit fees.

What do you think?

regards,

Gerald
