Bt profile

Hi I have an Apple Watch and installed bt wi-fi app on my Apple Watch and installed the connection profile and on the Apple Watch app it says profile verified but on my Apple Watch it keeps saying not verified I have tried re installing in several times but still says the same any idea what I am doing wrong please

Hi  could anyone tell me why my Apple Watch series 4 says bt profile not verified on Apple Watch , I have the bt wi-fi app on iPhone and installed it on Apple Watch like it says but still says not verified any help would be appreciated as it’s not connecting to wi-fi hotspots

@Trev11 welcome to the community and thanks for posting. The watch won't connect to public networks which BT wifi would be classed as.

I found the following info on the Apple support pages

Your Apple Watch can connect to a Wi-Fi network: 

  • If your iPhone, while connected to your watch with Bluetooth, has connected to the network before.
  • If the Wi-Fi network is 802.11b/g/n 2.4 GHz (or 5 GHz if you have Apple Watch Series 6).

Your Apple Watch won't connect to public networks that require logins, subscriptions or profiles. These networks, called captive networks, can include free and paid networks in places such as businesses, schools, student accommodation, flats, hotels and shops. When your Apple Watch connects to a compatible Wi-Fi network instead of your iPhone connection, the Wi-Fi icon will appear in the Control Centre.

thank you for your help this is one of those things that’s annoying as I don’t really need it to work on my watch and just leave it but then have another go , it use to have a pop up notification come on my watch every time I was near a hotspot then it just stopped working and don’t even get notifications on my iPhone for a hotspot, in settings it says profile is installed and verified but still nothing and on the watch it says profile not verified but on the watch app on my iPhone it says it is , just one of those things that niggle me but thank you for your reply
