Mobile number negligently changed

BT changed my mobile number Tuesday "in error" 

Now they say they dont know how to reverse it!  I have spent multiple hours and calls.   Have been with BT for over 40 years! 

Mobile number has been held for 30 years! 

I want it returning urgently! 

Outrageous.

What is actually the background behind this? What event led up to BT inexplicably changing your mobile number in error? Had you had some form of dialogue with them prior to the event as it’s difficult to imagine that BT would just randomly change your mobile number without any communication with you whatsoever.

I only ask because last year out of choice, I called my mobile provider (not BT) to request my number that I’d had for 10 years, to be changed. The person who handled my call asked me no fewer than 3 times in the space of 2 minutes if I was absolutely sure before they changed the number there and then.

the person responsible owned up to it no rhyme or reason given just a mistake!  No conversation had.  I only asked BT for assistance with a wi fi problem!

Unfortunately, unless a Moderator who actually works for BT pops up and offers you some form of assistance, no one here can help you, it’s just a customer to customer forum. Your only option, is to call BT back on the number you’ve been calling them on previously or, if it’s possible, start some form of official complaint proceedings using BT’s online form and I sincerely wish you the best of luck with that.
