Mobile transfer from BT to EE

With my contract up in a week (Broadband, Sport and Mobile) I have been told that the Sport and Broadband will stay with BT but the Mobile (sim only) HAS to be transferred to EE - Reading other post it seems that this is not true - what the heck is going on!!! am I being told blatant lies. if so this is appalling.
I have now got an EE contract for Mobile (as directed when renewing) and note that they say I have not got a payment plan set-up!. I have always paid BT via direct debit for my whole package - presume this means I have to set-up a direct debit for EE.
p.s I am assuming Broadband and Sport is still with BT but have had no confirmation. This whole thing seems a complete shambles to me.

Re: Mobile transfer from BT to EE

I would certainly ask them to clarify the position to confirm that you are staying with BT for broadband and sport, but have moved to EE for mobile. Do you know whether your SIM only deal with EE includes roam like home? That’s one of the reasons why we have stayed out of contract with BT Mobile.

Re: Mobile transfer from BT to EE

I suspect that this is only because they wanted you to take a new contract.

You could of course have done nothing and stayed on your previous BT Mobile contract which would have become a rolling contract (subject to price rises each year).

I have stayed on BT Mobile on a rolling basis in order to keep free TNT Sport which was a deal several years back. They haven't forced me to change (yet). However if I wanted to contract again I would be forced onto EE and lose the free TNT sport - potentially also losing free EU roaming.

Re: Mobile transfer from BT to EE

I have had a message last night from BT to say that I am moving to EE for my sim only mobile and logged onto My Bt to see the Broadband and Sport is staying with BT. The EE mobile is still controlled in The My Bt logon. The monthly bill is all lumped together and shows what I will be paying next month - quite a bit lower than I have been paying because BT Sport is £5 a month for 3 months and then reverts back to what I have been paying It seems a completely seamless Exercise. All in all I will finish up paying a bit less that I was and have a broadband speed upgrade as well as more data on the Mobile (not that either will make any difference to me) Just waiting for my old Mobile number to be ported back to the EE sim - hopefully Monday.

Re: Mobile transfer from BT to EE

We have resisted the push to move over to EE mobile which has been going on for around 3/4 years now. This was mainly because it would have meant that we would have lost roam like home and involved separate billing and credit checks for our family SIM.

When the push to move over to EE was extended to broadband, tv and landline there were some absolute horror stories retold on here which left  some people in a black hole between the two with no access to any of the services that they were paying for. For this reason we stood our ground when we renewed our contract for phone, tv, and broadband in March 2024 and resisted all attempts to move us over to EE and stayed with BT. We have been out of contract with BT mobile for over 3 years now which means that we are still subject to the annual price rise, but kept roam like home which is important to us.

It appears that the EE order and billing system is still causing major problems. Customers on the top speed broadband package are unable to order EETV, and it also seems to be a major hurdle in preventing customers from being able to have access to Ultra Boost on NOW which would enable them to watch Sky Sports in UHD. So it’s interesting that you are being kept on the BT billing system. It sounds as though you will be better off, at least in the short term.

Re: Mobile transfer from BT to EE

It's irrelevant if you're on BT or EE when it comes to Now UHD.

The only way to get UHD is by buying Now directly.

On the cord buster site it claimed Sky have no intention of offering Now  UHD to third parties.

Re: Mobile transfer from BT to EE

I am still not happy that I was pushed into it, it felt like it was mandatory. I cannot be arsed to change back and all hassle that would cause. All I wanted really was a continuation of what I already had.

Re: Mobile transfer from BT to EE

Yes, TNT Sports in UHD via Discovery + is a great option and will continue.

When it comes to Sky Sports in UHD I would not rely on anything that Cord Busters might say. @DarrenDev has said that it is related to the EE ordering/billing system and he knows what he’s talking about.

Re: Mobile transfer from BT to EE

Thank you for that, I have never watched Sky sports just the stuff on Discovery + (and in particular Premiership Rugby), I would hate to lose that.
