Hi
I have read the guide on BT website, I have read posts here in this forum, but I still cannot get my phone working in Portugal.
My account is set up for abroad, I have roam from home. I have tried the additional access settings. Still no signal.
When I view possible networks it says forbidden.
My Samsung settings says it is my sim that is not allowing this.
Please help as this is really frustrating now!
Solved! Go to Solution.
If you've enabled roaming in MyBT, put an extra spend limit of £10 on the only other thing is the phone settings where you need to enable Roaming on the phone.
I already set the spend cap at £20. I cannot see any issues with my BT account. It must be the handset, but I have gone through all the settings. Bizarre.
Does the handset allow you to search manually for networks?
Meo is normally the go to network in Portugal if you can manually select it.
Could also try resetting your phones network settings altogether and restarting it.
Yes I can search, but this is what it says and it will not connect to any. I am truly baffled.
sorry but in MYBT mobile did you set up international roaming and also a spend cap of say £5 as this is normal cause of of your problem
I know no one will believe how, but I have finally sorted it!
In a last ditch attempt I tried to enter APN information for another network (my partner uses 02 so copied that), saved it, then reset the settings and its now working!
FYI I had already tried removing and resetting the APN settings after updating my account online (note for BT I only found this after reading the forum and using a desktop site to view MyBT).
All sorted, thanks for everyone who replied 🙂
Grateful for any help!
I am having a similar (?) problem in Turkey.
In my case, the phone can receive SMS messages. But I can't send any.
It says it is connected to Turkcell 4G.
It shows roaming but with an exclamation point.
"Using your phone abroad" is turned on in Mobile Settings on My BT.
It is a Google Pixel 6A if that makes a difference.
Thanks
