Re: Door bell confusion

I would imagine most wireless ones will work, I have a ring and to get it paired up I had to turn off the 5GHZ frequency on my WIFI though the HUB (I'm sure BT could do this for you as well) then once I had it connected I turned the 5GHZ back on and have had no bother

Re: Door bell confusion

The problem folks encounter with these devices is that the initial setup is directly to the app on the phone (ad hoc mode) rather than via the hub wifi. Most devices are 2.4Ghz band only and if the phone is connecting to the hub at 5Ghz it won't see the device on 2.4Ghz. Hence the phone needs to be forced to use 2.4Ghz. The simplest way to do this is to temporarily turn off the 5Ghz Wifi as @Manatarms84  has said until configuration is complete. Once the device has connected to the hub it doesn't matter which band the phone is using.

Re: Door bell confusion

Just for information. I have had a Ring door bell for many years but last year I updated the model to wired unit. I fitted the unit and it worked fine. I then upgraded my router to a Wi-Fi 6 unit and after about a month the doorbell dropped off the Wi-Fi link. To get it working again I had to reset the device. Again after 2/3 weeks the unit went offline. This time I decided to get Ring support involved. After a lot of them testing remotely they decided the unit was faulty so replaced it. I setup the new unit but again it stopped connecting to the home Wi-Fi after a few weeks, same symptoms as the first unit.  Given it was unlikely the new unit was faulty I wondered if the Wi-Fi 6 router was the issue. So I used a small Wi-Fi bridge than only supports b/g/n connections. Since then the doorbell has worked flawlessly. I suspect the Ring doorbell had a firmware bug and have since reported this.  As a side note my son-in-law bought a Blink unit and that worked out of the box on a Wi-Fi 6 system, without the need to turn off the 5Ghz network. So you take your choice, any good quality device will work with BT WiFi.
