Error code 105

I have a new Amazon Kindle.  Unfortunately when I try to connect to my WiFi and then enter the WiFi password, I get an error message stating "could not load the requested resource - Error code 105".  The URL address is:

http:blockpage.bt.com/pcstaticpage

Does anyone know how I can resolve this please?

Re: Error code 105

Make sure when you are connecting to your BT Hub you are using the BTHub's SSid (name) and wireless password/passkey found on the hub's label, and not the Admin Password.

On the Kindle:-

  1. From the home screen, swipe down to open the Quick Actions or select the Menu icon.
  2. Select All Settings or Settings, then Wi-Fi & Bluetooth or Wireless.
  3. Select Wi-Fi Networks and detected Wi-Fi networks appear.

If your Wi-Fi network is configured to be hidden or broadcast is deactivated, it won't be displayed in the list.

  4. Tap on desired Wi-Fi network or select Other to add it manually (for a hidden network).
  5. Enter the name of your network if applicable and then your Wi-Fi password or network key.
  6. Select Connect.

Re: Error code 105

Hi, thanks for your message.

I can confirm that I am using the BT Hub Wireless code and Wireless password as found on the hub's label.  The kindle works fine at my daughter's house when I connect to her WiFi (she is with Sky).

The problem is definitely something to do with the WiFi at my home address, but I just don't know how to resolve it. The fact that the error code has the URL address "http://blockpage.bt.com/pcstaticpage" would indicate that it is a problem that BT need to resolve?  However, I might be completely wrong!

Re: Error code 105

Hi @Sally29,

Welcome to the BT Community

Just to clarify is this error page after you enter your WiFi details in the network settings and then go to the web browser app on your kindle?

The URL usually relates to parental controls blocking a page, have you tried entering a URL such as google.com in the web browser and see if that loads? Our parental controls page has information for how to disable entirely or allow websites etc to see if this resolves it for you.

Are other apps such as the Kindle store getting a network connection on your home WiFi?
