Debt collection agencies MUST provide proof to the debtor what proof they have of the debt, if they can’t provide it, they have no case.
The OP could really lay it on thick with the collection agency. They could tell them that the pursuance against them for an unproven debt, is seriously harming their mental health and well being. It all depends how far one is prepared to take it. There’s always the BBC Watchdog option too 😏
