Account Holder bereavement

Go to solution

My business has an account with BT. The Director who set this up has died so we need to add the other Directors to the account but seems the only way to do this is with a death certificate. ThereforeI have to ask a grieving wife  to send me her husbands death certificate so BT can add me to my own business account! I am not prepared to do this, its insensitive and unnecessary.

The account holder is no longer a Director in companies house, he has died. The account as far as I am concerned is owned by the business, not an individual. The business pays your bills and the business is the account holder therefore I would simply like the ability to add myself as Director to my own business account. If another person tells me its procedure I'll scream, your procedure is clearly broken. If he had stepped down as Director and wasn't dead what would you do in that instance? For example if we had no existing relationship, would you insist we keep an account forever because we couldn't give you a password?

I am so angry and upset, his has taken 2 hours of my life so far. I have had 3 phone calls and been cut off on an online chat and had another lengthy online chat with a passive aggressive woman called Val. Just ry to be kinder, more helpful and apply logic rather than behaving like drones.
