All FTTP speeds no longer available for my post code

Does anyone know why BT and EE no longer offer up to 900MB in certain post codes? Up to 900MB is still offered by the likes of PlusNet and TalkTalk in my post code, however BT and EE now only offer 100MB max, which is contradictory as 100MB can only be achieved via FTTP.

Talked to BT sales and they have no explanation.

@Ipswich

Use the address checker on the page below, and post the results, but edit out your address details first.

Showing 330 as max for FTTP (Exchange FOXHALL Cabinet 26), however until a month ago, it was showing 900MB here  https://www.bt.com/products/broadband/deals

Above link now only showing 100MB.

Re: All FTTP speeds no longer available for my post code

Its possible there is not sufficient backhaul capacity to support any more 900mb packages , there is most likely a design limit to ensure that everyone can get the minimum promised speed. You can get up to 330mbs.

The cabinet number does not matter, as FTTP comes direct from the exchange via splitters.

Thanks for looking into this.

Are not the other providers offering the higher speeds also subject to the same backhaul capacity i.e. the infrastructure is shared?

Or maybe just my ignorance on how FTTP is being rolled out.

I do not know the answer to that, but I suspect it depends on how much overall capacity an ISP is paying for. Bandwidth is flexible so perhaps BT Retail are not paying as much as some other ISPs are?

It could possibly be an older ECI Head Head.

They’re unfortunately limited to 330.

Openreach are in the process of getting rid of ECI and Huawei Head Ends and migrating Circuits onto Nokia and Adtran.
