BT App where’s the bill

Go to solution

I use the BT app to view and manage my account. Once a month I download the current bill, showing it has been paid, and useful for archive purposes. For the last couple of months I can’t find the download!  Both the download file and download as PDF disappear…… somewhere!  Anyone know where they go?  The app used to give me a dialog box so I could choose where, but no more. Maybe someone missed that bit in the latest App update?

I normally use an iPad Pro running iPad OS 25.2 and have no log-on issues. Another one for the “Fix-it” list?

Hi @JRT23

Please have a look at our How can I view my bill online with a My BT account page for steps on how to view your bills.

@Ali_A

Thanks for the reply. The instructions are obviously for a previous version of MyBT, the layouts are a bit different now.  However, I did manage to get to a listing of previous bills which had the command to “Download as PDF”. Surprise!  It performs a download ( or says it does ), but where that download file goes, I know not!  I have looked in Files and Downloads on the iPad, nowhere to be seen.
Please try it, before I go completely nuts!

Regards

Works just fine for me on Android. The download will go to wherever you (or probably Apple) decide it should go.

There is the issue!  Android is ok, iPad OS is not. Apple (or the software designer) has decided where it’s going to go, it just isn’t letting me into the secret.  Any offers?

Nope, that's why I wouldn't touch Apple devices with a 10 foot barge pole. Have you asked them?

Not much point in going to Apple. They are going to say “It’s down to the App developer”. As a point of interest, it used to work with the previous App, they obviously didn’t do all the function testing on the latest version. It would also explain some of the troubles with login on latest version.  User testing involves time, effort and money so developers often don’t do enough of it.

Have a read of this link about attachments on Apple devices.

https://thetechylife.com/where-do-email-attachments-get-saved-on-iphone/

With the BTMail app you should be given an option where you want to save it in the program that you have used to view the attachment.

@gg30340

Fascinating article!  Minor point - we aren’t talking about Mail app, rather the MyBT app, so some of the references are confusing. I realise that in iPad OS there is a lot going on behind the scenes, security, sandboxing and so on.  That is a developer thing, not a user thing.

I have had a look in some of the areas suggested, nothing obvious pops out. It could even be the Bill.PDF file name isn’t what you expect, meaning even less likely to find it. I guess the work around for the moment is a screen shot of the Bill display.  That works, I have just tried it.

Is it possible to report this behaviour as a bug?  Likely to be very low priority but at least visible on somebody‘s Fix list?

Many thanks to everyone who has responded.

Best regards,

As I said about the BTMail app, when you open the bill does your PDF reader that you are viewing it on not give you the options to save it to a folder of your choosing?
