sorry but how are you paying the subscription - credit card/debit card/direct debit or some other method?

If it is a BT Xbox Game pass there is a good chance it is attached to a BT Customer's account and is being paid for by them. If they don't check their bill they may be unaware that is happening.
See the BT XBox Game pass T&Cs.
@STC1 Thanks for posting, you'll need to contact Microsoft for support with this. BT do not have visibility of who the Game Pass code was issued to as this information is not shared with us by Microsoft for data protection reasons.
Thanks
Neil
you are probably right about who is actually paying and would tie in with the posts where customers have had the game pass activated but know nothing about it
This doesn't seem to be a new problem either. If you google about the subject, you'll find many people on, for example, Reddit saying that they have the same problem after buying the xbox gamepass from third parties, such as G2A and such. Those posts range from 2 months old to recent.
@NeilO An update. I had contacted Microsoft about it, but as the subscription that I have on Xbox is controlled through a BT profile, they can't do anything about it. I don't have access to said BT profile because I had bought the Xbox game pass code from a third party, and you can't see from the code if it's a regular one or a BT one. Microsoft's backend team has said that it has to be canceled through BT services. I can't do that myself as I'm not from the UK nor do I have an actual BT profile, as the BT profile that the game pass is activated from could be any. I still have the code what I used, so maybe if with that one could find which BT profile was given that specific Xbox game pass code.
The moderator stated "BT do not have visibility of who the Game Pass code was issued to as this information is not shared with us by Microsoft for data protection reasons" so that would appear to mean that without BT being told the customers name or BT account number that the specific code was issued to from Microsoft they will be unable to access the BT Customers account/details because at present they have no way of knowing who has been issued with it.
I could of course be wrong in my interpretation so no doubt the moderator may wish to clarify that but due to the Festive Holidays that may not be for a few days , so you may wish to get back in touch with Microsoft to see if they at least hold that information and if there is a point of contact that BT could use to access that information if they, as I suspect, won't release it to you.
