Hi
It looks like I have not understood the difference between MyBT and Email signon. I currently use the same email address for both of these functions, and they currently have the same password.
I thought that these could be setup separately - so I changed the password for MyBT login, expecting the EMail sign-on would use the existing password and MYBT would use the new password - but the password change also changed my email password - not what I had expected.
I would appreciate any comments, and if there will be some future change that will separate these two accounts
To change your email log on you log onto your email account using the BTMail logon page and then go to the settings found by clicking on your user name at the top right. Once there click on "Account Info" then click on "Change my password" and follow the prompts.
This should only change the email password and not your MyBT password.
BTMail logon page.
Many thanks for your response but I am not seeing the same behaviour as you described:
My MyBT ID is my primary email address (i.e. I logon onto MyBT with ?@btopenworld.com which is also my email address that I logon to Email)
Test #1 - sign-on to MyBT and change password
Result#1 - I have to use the new password to access my MyBT and my my mail box
Test#2 - sign-on to Email and change password
Result#2- I have to use the new password to access my MyBT and my my mail box
so regardless of which order I change them - my MyBT password seems to be synchronised to my EMail password (or they are the same account credentials).
As far as I am aware the method I showed should have changed the email password only. There may have been some changes recently that I am not aware of so I have notified the moderators of the forum about your problem. Once they have read this they may be able to help. They will advise you by posting on this thread.
It's probably because you are using @btopenworld rather than @btinternet
They are interchangeable as an email address but not as a BTID, which may be causing the problem.
Hi @scyldshefing and thanks for posting.
Great advice from @gg30340 . Can you try using the btinternet as mentioned by @licquorice and let me know if that helps.
Cheers
David
Hi
Thank you for the response.
1. I can't use ?@btinternet.com as my BT ID - but I had somewhat expected that
2. I logon onto my email using ?@btinternet.com using the password for ?@btopenworld.com - and gained access (I had expected this)
3. I changed the password for ?@btinternet.com while signed on as btinternet, com - and I was able to sign on to my mail account using either btinternet or btopenworld
4. However I could no longer sign on to my BT ID using the previous password - I had to use the password I had just created for the btinternet account
Regards
Tony
