BT lying once again

After renewing my BT Broadband contract on the 4th March 2023, BT have now reneged on the deal.

I had agreed a 24 month contract on the Fibre 2 network at £21.99 a month.

When I received my bill I was being charged £27.99. After numerous phone calls and complaints BT have now said that they cannot honour that price as the agent made a mistake and that I am now free to leave the contract without any penalties. 

Very disappointed with this response as I have been a BT customer for many years.

I had the same issue - but spotted they were wrong when I got the confirmation email confirming the changes within 24 hours of my 'phone call.

They corrected the issue - but it was within 24 hours of the error.

If you are getting fibre2 for £27.99 you are getting an absolute bargain.

Not disagreeing with that but I was given an even better deal at £21.99 a month...

Were you out of contract or within 6 months of the end of your contract when you renewed your deal with BT as that appears to be criteria for not getting the 14.4% increase 31/3   this was not known at the start of march but does make sense otherwise everyone would renew contract in march even if only started a new contract just a few months earlier

I guess you've never made a mistake, it was a genuine error, not BT 'lying again'.

No I wasn't.

I phoned to ask what they could do to help with the cost of living crisis and to help me with the CPI rise.

I was then offered this new 24 month contract

Surely an agent doesn't have the ability to offer deals without something on her system telling her to offer such a deal.

I dont blame the young girl who offered me deal, she would be following a script on her screen or some sort of direction from her management team??

This six month criteria keeps being mentioned as the cutoff point to renew contacts and avoid the price rise.

This criteria is quite different to what was mentioned by the Mods on this Forum, the Mods said if you renew by 1 March or after you will avoid the price increase.

One of the two options therefore must be incorrect?

Perhaps the Mods can give some greater clarity?
