I am hoping for some advice before I take an action to avoid issues I have read some experiencing on here with a situation like mine.
My partner (sole account holder) sadly died in January. The BT account which runs to June 2027 is the final matter I need to sort. My wish is to stay with BT but negotiate a better deal and remove some add ons which I don't regard as necessary like Halo and pay as you go landline. Before I call the bereavement number I would value opinions as I am concerned they will advise changing the present contract into my name, which is fine but upon calling the leaving Dept to negotiate a better deal being told I am now in a 24 month contract. I could do nothing but would have to address the issue at some stage and I really need to reduce my budget on broadband etc.
The current package is Fibre Halo 3 complete WiFi, home phone pay as you go and TV. The package I want is Broadband and TV. Any insight would be welcome and thanks.

It would probably be neater and easier to terminate existing contract as account holder has died which does not raise a early termination penalty. You then start a new contract with BT or EE or any ISP you prefer in your own name and with the package that suits you. you would also qualify for any incentive payments being a new customer
