Bill holder

Hi, I’m just trying to work out the best way forward here.  My parents are both in their 80’s and my Dad has dementia and isn’t up to dealing with bills anymore. Neither of them “do online” or have an email address.  Their BT bill is in my Dads name.  I understand that it can’t be put into joint names so Im  thinking it would be sensible for my Mum to be added to the account as account manager.  Does this sound like the best solution? Please can someone tell me how she does this by phone/post? Thank you

Re: Bill holder

Hi @uksarah66, have a look at https://www.bt.com/help/here-for-you and the section on 'managing your account'.
As neither of them are online it might be best for you to register online as the 'Account Holder'
Check out the protected services scheme also as that may be useful for your parents.

Cheers

John

Re: Bill holder

I would do something close to that but tweaked a bit.
create a BTid as an "account manager" use their account number when creating it.

then give BT a call with your parent there (they will need to vaildate the account holder) and get them to accept the account manager access.

this way in the future when if you call it would be in your name, and should
allow you todo everything apart from cancel services for their account.

then later if needed I would go down the power of attorney route.
